Purchasing a domain name? Let me take the how to out of this for you. For a lot of people, the thought of trying to set up a website can seem very complicated, and difficult. However, it’s actually relatively simple especially if you already know how to sign up to websites, for example getting your own email address. And if you know how to purchase things online then you are already halfway there. So all you really need to know is where to get a domain from and a couple of simple steps of what to do and not to do.
I suggest getting your domain name from NameCheap.com, it will only cost approx $10 to get a .com domain name. So first sign up to NameCheap.com, entering your email, name, etc. After doing this go to the home page and simply type in a domain name that you would like to purchase and click search. Then on the next screen it will tell you whether or not that domain name is available or not. It will also tell you if all the .nets, .orgs, etc are available. I recommend sticking with a .com domain name.

Once you have found an available domain that you like, tick the box next to it and then click on add to cart. On the next page you will have the option of picking standard checkout or express checkout. I suggest clicking on express checkout as you don’t want to buy all the extras they have to offer. I recommend also that you get hosting elsewhere, HostGator.com is a great place to do this along with 101Hosting.com.
Then you can just go through the steps filling in your credit card details and purchasing the domain. Don’t worry about the step that lets you change the options such as dns and domain forwarding, as all this can be changed later from your NameCheap.com account.
